Subculture || A Second Look

5:00 PM

Okay guys, playing with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette (Sephora Ulta) for the first time was enjoyable considering all the negative reviews. I am happy to say that for the most part I have had success with this palette. Yippee! The eyeshadows are a bit dusty and would disappear a bit where I placed them but I just needed to build them up a bit more. The fallout was minimal and the shadow that presented the most difficulty was Axis, which is one of the blue shades. It blended for the most part but in the photos you can see where the shadow looks a bit patchy. From my understanding, I believe that blues can be a harder color to formulate and make the pigment even (do not quote me on that, lol).

Even so, my experience was good with this palette. I used a light hand while dipping my brush into the shadows and that gave me the best results when trying to blend. I always build my shadows up to the intensity that I want so using a light hand was key to having success with this palette for me. I do not know if there was a bad batch and if I was just lucky enough to get a 'good' palette but I will continue to use this palette. I adore the colors which is why I bought it in the first place. I have no other palette with the same color range and it is beautiful.

 I used a total of 10 shades out of the 14 in this palette. On the right eye I used Dawn as my transition, Roxy on the lid, New Wave on the outer lid blending into the crease, All Star for some definition, and Cube in the inner corner.

For my left eye I used Edge as my transition, Destiny on the lid, Untamed on the outer lid blending into the crease, Axis for definition, and Electric in the inner corner.

Overall, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette is a good palette in my opinion. Is it the greatest palette I have ever tried? No, but I do not regret purchasing it in the least. I love the color selection and I think it is a great addition to my makeup collection. I cannot wait to create more looks with it.

I hope you all have an awesome weekend!
